churnalism

a form of journalism in which press releases, wire stories and other forms of pre-packaged material are used to create articles in newspapers and other news media in order to meet increasing pressures of time and cost without undertaking further research or checking. Techniques include article spinning & machine translation where existing articles are re-written (as opposed to merely scraping content from other sites) to avoid google penalties. This process is undertaken by hired writers or automated using a thesaurus database or a neural network. Some sites use machine translation to render their content in several languages, with no human editing, resulting in unintelligible texts.
